Music for Joy and Healing

Speaking Presentations ~ Chanting Circles ~ Workshops ~ Classes ~ Retreats

I use lecture and interactive musical activities to bring alive the healing nature of music.  Depending on your group’s needs, I can design a program to specifically engage, educate, and offer the opportunity for personal transformation for each participant. We will incorporate sound exercises and voice to profoundly effect your emotional, mental and spiritual body... to bring you the passion and joy of a spirit filled life.

The classes are fun and experiential while including cutting edge research and pertinent clinical applications.

Testimonials

“Fascinating, Jan was an excellent communicator. Wonderful sharing of herself along with the information. Excellent rapport with audience, good amounts of examples and active involving with exercises... wish this could have been a longer session.” – Comments from MHTP National convention attendees

“Today, I believe Jesus spoke to me through you. I was pushing back the tears during your presentation for the Activities Directors meeting.  I got blown out of the water with extreme feelings that I may belong to this process... perhaps a calling.  I wanted you to know how much you moved me and to ask you what step I might take to move toward becoming a Music practitioner.” – Attendee, Activities Directors meeting

“Watching Jan work with my students, many who have special needs is a magical, transforming experience. The children swarm to be near her. A truly amazing and healing experience.” – Barbara Goodman, school teacher

Always entertaining, informative, and infused with enthusiasm for all.

“Music portrays the very essence of the cosmos.”

Chanting, Singing, Life Changing Workshops

Music has a profound effect on our entire being and these workshops allow the music to “loosen the strings that bind us” to bring more flow and growth into our lives. I will bring in musical colleagues as we design a program with live drumming, singing, various instruments, your instruments... whatever is needed.  We will explore altered states of consciousness and apply the principles of vibrational healing to our energy bodies. Through this we can then focus and let go that which does not serve our higher vision of ourselves.  Community circles, Womens' ritual, and Shamanic sound journeys... we are only limited by our imagination. See calendar for listings, or call to suggest a program you would like to see.

The Uncovering the Voice Vocal Method of Werbeck-Svärdström
“A true clear voice is a gift of God... and each of us Has this gift.” If we are but willing carriers of the etheric “tone beings” we can experience:

  • A balanced energy system
  • A sense peace and expansion
  • Improved pitch and voice placement

The “tones” actually have an energetic essence, like a being, or entity, with a personality and specific characteristics. As we study and sing the pure tones, we become familiar with each tone’s unique personality, an archetypal presence.

This Transformative vocal method is described on the “Uncovering the Voice” page.  Presentations about this method include learning about the spiritual/scientific basis of this singing method create by Valborg Werbeck-Svärdström in conjunction with Rudolf Steiner.  We can balance our nervous system by therapeutically addressing our emotional and mental spheres through the simple exercises.  Through demonstration and imitation, each participant can begin to realize the effects of bringing pure tone through their own larynx, and enjoy the effects of deep rhythmical breathing.  True singing is a deeply ensouling process.  We will sing together, have discussions and for special groups, such as choirs or sound healings we can create a special focus to meet their needs.

“The musician hears the pulse of the divine will that flows through the world; he hears how this will express itself in tones.”
Rudolf Steiner

How to use Music in the Hospice Environment for Staff, Families or Musicians
This program can be presented as an informative overview for general or specialized groups (volunteers, nurses, chaplains, etc.) or as a two day Intensive Introductory Training.

The Training would prepare Musicians, Hospice team members, and community members to begin to use music in the Hospice environment in an appropriate, sensitive manner.  The longer sessions include more participatory exercises and practical information about doing this special sacred work.  This training is a course for those who feel a calling to this service through music and need a place to come have support and information to begin the process of inner and outer exploration that this work requires. Participants will have a chance for self-reflection as we carry them through a program filled with color, music, tone and good solid information. Attendees are encouraged to bring in their instruments and we will create a space where a new relationship can be developed with the music and their instrument in the intentional healing realm.

“Thank you for a truly magical workshop! Your professional skills, energetic facilitation, depth and scope of knowledge and soulful, devotion to music touched us all. We had goose bumps. You are a joy!”
Carmela Carlyle, Heartland Hospice

Children’s Interactive Musical Program
Musical games, singing, creative Interactive Activities to explore the “magic of music and tone”.

The child lives in a safe cupola of possibilities and beauty. Music can bridge the world of learning, growing, socialization and neurological development in an organic way.  We use imagination, color and movement with rhythms to explore our universe with joy.  Puppets, silks, pure tone instruments and lovely group singing are used to play and learn through music.  Classes can be held in public classrooms, or larger groups in various venues.  Special needs classes are designed accordingly. We are just limited by our imagination!!

  • Preschool through 3rd grade: Nature themes, Waldorf dolls, make believe
  • Older Children:  Introduction to World music, rhythms, and active musical activities.  Programs address developing a sensitivity of ethnic diversity, and promoting shared pride in American history and music.
“Music is a message from the spiritual world... music speaks powerfully and directly to almost everyone.”
